OMG. I honestly thought I loved Freeing Alex, but when I started reading Loving Alex, I was hooked from the first page. This storyline continues where book 1 ended, but this shows a stronger willed, determined Alex with a white knight in shining armor, James at her side. Every women needs a man like James (tall,dark and handsome).
Loving Alex introduces us to Alex's dad and is very family oriented. They have her back, giving her the extra strength she needs.
There are twists in this book that I didn't see coming, but add strength to the book and its a happy feeling to see the difference from Freeing Alex to Loving Alex.
The things James can do with Strawberries are truly amazing and so loving, you just want the book to go on and continue forever. I honestly can't wait for book 3, Eternally Alex, to see what happens next.
My drink of choice in this book has got to stay with Champagne and strawberries but, like the Arconi Angels, I will add the strawberry bellini :-)

Spectacular Sequel

Loving Alex is the sequel to Freeing Alex by Sarah Elizabeth Ashley. Ashley does a great job transitioning into this second book which starts off right where the first ended. Alex Drake continues to make a space in our hearts and learns how to fight. Empowerment and change seems to be the energy layered into Alex and her journey in this story. There were some moments where I questioned what she was doing but then realized I would probably do the same in her shoes. Sarah Elizabeth Ashley has created characters and a story that will leave a lasting impression. In addition to memorable Alex, there is James, who is so amazingly hot there are not enough words to describe how great he is! James made me want eat strawberries and drink champagne every night just to feel like I am a part of their romance.
Don’t think for a second this is just a love story, there is suspense and are twists that will leave you shocked. If you have not added this author to your Goodreads page, do so now, you will not want to miss anything she puts out.

Loving Alex

Excellent follow up to Freeing Alex! Again Sarah has nailed the feeling, emotions and mindset of a DV survivor. I absolutely loved James and his protectiveness! James is too good to be true and is perfect for Alex! This story has twists and turns that weren't expected. The book drew me in completely as all of these characters and plots are very realistic. There were still typos and grammatical errors that detracted from the story and that is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. I would recommend this book and can't wait for the next in the series.

Incisive, theory driven approach

Having just completed this work as part of self-preparation for an entrance exam to a Master's program in IR, I would like to concur with the first reviewer's points (2002 review) and add what I hope is a salient point. For pure theorists, this is an excellent analysis of competing views of IR philosophy. I would caution, however, that this book is not for the faint of heart. Even a more-than-casual student may be put off by the lack of case studies- in a nine-chapter book, it is not until we approach Game Theory in chapter six that more than passing reference is made to application. And, it should be noted, since the book was published in 1991, the case-study in question is the USSR. To be fair, the authors make no pretensions that they are writing a collection of case-studies. Those prepared to invest some brain-power in studying this book will come away with a deep understanding of arguments for and against nearly every theory of IR, within the constraints of publication date. Martin and Hollis's work would benefit from a look at the more recent developments in IR, including the rise of non-state actors over the last two decades, but this is a problem of chronology, not an inherent flaw in their work.

A great teaching tool

This review by a philospher of science and an International Relations theorist of the range of debates in International Relations theory is one of the more useful advanced teaching tools in the discipline. What distinguingshes this book from the usual run-of-the-mill IR theory textbook is the authors' concern to locate IR theory within the broader questions of philosophy of the sciences. The conclusions will certainly not please those who believe in positivism, and provides one of the most convincing critiques of positivist approaches in IR. This is a book for those who take theory serious, and are prepared to put some thought into their reading, and who believe that epistemology and ontology are important.
I have used this book in a postgraduate IR theory course virtually since it was published, and year after year my students find it the most useful and interesting piece of reading in the course

POTENTIAL

I like this author, and, in particular, her subject-matter. As a writer myself I look for content, depth, and passion. I read Ms. Ingeman as having all this and more. I gave the literature a four star only in that on some pages the author is brilliant. I'd like to see that brilliance on all pages. Write fewer..but greater books.

I bought this book because I went to a pow wow in my area and there was a person there who said he was a medicine man. I asked him what that was and he said it was like a Shaman. I looked at him with an up turned eye brow so he said in short, he spiritualy heals people. I still didn't get it. A lady who heard me talking to this guy suggested I read this book. So...I bought this book seeking to understand what was involved with being a Shaman practitioneer. Ms. Ingerman's book is written in a friendly manner and teaches the person how to journey and meet their power totem or animal. She also goes into topics like healing others and such. If you want to learn how to practice Shaman spiritual travel, meet your power animal, etc. You will enjoy this book! It even comes with a DVD so you can spiritually journey in your car (when stopped and bored waiting in a parking lot) or in the privacy of your home! Learn Shamanic practices in the comfort of your own home today! Yahooo!!!

The drums, the drums...

This is the beginner's guide and it is truly a beginner's guide. You are given some common sense rules and told to go explore, to journey on your own. The author believes everybody can travel beyond ordinary reality and that it just takes time. The book comes with a nice CD of three tracks of drums, allowing you to pick the one that best works for you. That is the message of the book - everybody has their own path and must develop their own way of journeying. The drums were relaxing but I may have to try different times of the day to see if I can journey. It is fun to read and enjoyable to listen to.
