Bryan Chapell�is the senior pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Peoria, Illinois. He�is also the host of a daily half-hour radio Bible teaching program,�Unlimited Grace, and the founder and chairman of Unlimited Grace Media (unlimitedgrace.com). Bryan�previously served as the president of Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, and is the author of a number of books, including�Holiness by Grace.

D. A. Carson (PhD, Cambridge University) is research professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he has taught since 1978. He is a cofounder of the Gospel Coalition and has written or edited nearly 120 books. He and his wife, Joy, have two children and live in the north suburbs of Chicago.

Good primer on "what is the Gospel"

These short booklets by the Gospel Coalition are a fantastic way to have a short study with your small group on various topics.

What is the Gospel is a twenty six page document by Bryan Chapel that does a wonderful job of explaining the Gospel. It further explains that man has no ability to fix his broken relationship with God. Only God can fix the relationship and He does that through the sending of His Son, Jesus Christ, as the unblemished sacrifice that will bear the burden of all of the sin of mankind on the cross to cleanse us, the sinners, from all sin and present us to the Father without blemish, holy and consecrated for ministry. It is only through the atoning work of Jesus Christ that we can bridge the gap of the broken relationship with have with God the Father.

Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." That is the central truth we must understand. Christ is the only way to a restored relationship with God and that restoration takes place because of the sacrificial love of Christ being willing to go to the Cross and pay the penalty for our sins.

Chapel does a wonderful job of defining the Gospel, of further expressing the meaning of the name Jesus Christ, "anointed deliverer." He uses plenty of scripture to back up his teaching and defend the truths of the statements regarding atonement and the sacrificial lamb.

These little booklets by the Gospel Coalition are designed for quick study, small group discussion or even one on one discipleship training. You won't be disappointed in this short book or by any of the other books in the series.

About the Author
Gerard J. Tortora is a professor of biology and teaches microbiology, human anatomy, and physiology at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. He received his M.A. in Biology from Montclair State College in 1965. He belongs to numerous biology/microbiology organizations, such as the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), National Education Association (NEA), New Jersey Educational Association (NJEA), and the Metropolitan Association of College and University Biologists (MACUB). Jerry is the author of a number of biological science textbooks. In 1995, he was selected as one of the finest faculty scholars at Bergen Community College and was named Distinguished Faculty Scholar. In 1996, Jerry received a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) excellence award from the University of Texas and was selected to represent Bergen Community College in a campaign to increase awareness of the contributions of community colleges to higher education. Berdell R. Funke received his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in microbiology from Kansas State University. He has spent his professional years as a professor of microbiology at North Dakota State University. He taught introductory microbiology, including laboratory sections, general microbiology, food microbiology, soil microbiology, clinical parasitology, and pathogenic microbiology. As a research scientist in the Experiment Station at North Dakota State, he has published numerous papers on soil microbiology and food microbiology. Christine L. Case is a registered microbiologist and a professor of microbiology at Skyline College in San Bruno, California, where she has taught for the past 38 years. She received her EdD. in curriculum and instruction from Nova Southeastern University and her M.A. in microbiology from San Francisco State University. She was Director for the Society for Industrial Microbiology (SIM). She received the ASM and California Hayward outstanding educator awards. In addition to teaching, Chris contributes regularly to professional literature, develops innovative educational methodologies, and maintains a personal and professional commitment to conservation and the importance of science in society. Chris is also an avid photographer, and many of her photographs appear in this book.

Excellent value & quality!!!

The book I ordered costs $4.95 plus a few bucks for shipping. I probably saved around $120.00 if I would of bought it at the school bookstore. The book was in excellent condition, like brand new. Just make sure you order with enough time before your class starts because the order took about a week and a half to get to me. But other than that, I highly recommend ordering from amazon.

About the Author
Elliot Bendoly is an associate professor at Emory University's Goizueta Business School. He serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Operations Management, a senior editor for Production and Operations Management, and an associate editor for Decision Sciences. His research has been published in several academic journals including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. He is the co-editor of Strategic ERP Extension and Use and of the Handbook of Research in Enterprise Systems, as well as the author of the first edition of Excel Basics to Blackbelt (Cambridge University Press, 2008). He holds a PhD from Indiana University.

Tutorial and Reference for Quality Analysis (that maybe you didn't even know) you can perform using Excel

Bendoly makes the statement that “being familiar with the functions covered up to this point...” differentiates one from 90 percent of current Excel users. I think that is me… and the statement comes on page 24 of the book!

I work with lots of other top 10 percenters and am recommending this book to each member of my team. The narrative here is clear and the examples are both topical and engaging. I find three elements of the text to be particularly compelling.

First, Chapter 4 on Visualization provides terrific insight into data visualization. This is particularly valuable (for me) when it comes to the discussion in section 4.5 on Complex-Form Heat Mapping, an underused and potentially powerful tool for communicating analysis and ideas.

Second, the data simplification tactics discussed in Chapter 5 offer valuable opportunities for anyone tasked with conducting moderate to advanced analysis – particularly if it is survey or market segmentation based. Far too often we see na�ve analyses in these situations. Furthermore, many analysts feel they lack the necessary tools. This chapter can help teams do better by applying an already familiar tool set!

Third, Chapters 8 and 9 on simulation approaches help readers understand alternatives for tackling uncertainty in their analyses. We often see this dimension of problems ignored in the business cases and other decision-making models we create, much to our detriment. I am convinced that the reason for this lapse is that people just don’t know how to handle the challenge. Help is provided here.

To be sure, there are other insightful gems available here (I will use the later chapters on Visual Basic editing as reference to be sure). In that sense, this book will be valuable to me both as tutorial and reference. Overall, a great find for those who endeavor to perform quality analysis using Excel.

A firmer grasp on Excel through an easy to follow book.

The book is a great complement with any excel class that you might be taking. I personally found the chapters visually explained for students who do not even have a hardcore excel background. The progression of the book makes it easy to follow and the chapters have some very useful tips and tricks that are helping me in my internship in analytics.
Buy this book if you want to have a firm grasp in excel and how powerful excel can be to visualize data. There are instances and examples of things that you would not even believe excel can do! The VBA coding introduction and shallow dive towards the end helps one in form creation and excel programming to handle complex projects and real world problems, all within excel.

Overall, very helpful! Highly recommended!
