Their biggest issue now is that they are stuck as kindergarteners and they don't have Captain Underpants to save them from Kipper Krupp, the sixth-grade bully. Will they be able to beat him on their own? Pilkey holds true to the formula his readers love, with clever cartoons throughout the book and plenty of humor. In spite of the fact that this is a very silly book, Pilkey does also manage to include some anti-bullying messages. "One thing that had always bothered me throughout this series is that I'd never written an origin story. The first epic novel began with George and Harold as best friends. I'd only written a few sentences about their previous experiences together, and I really wanted to explore their past relationship more deeply. I wanted to know how they met. Did they have any other adventures BEFORE they created Captain Underpants?

So I thought about it. For many years I pondered these things. Eventually, I came up with a good story. But how could I tell it? It seemed strange to just release an origin story all by itself. There was no way to include it in the Captain Underpants series, because Captain Underpants wasn't around until the boys got into 4th grade. You can't have a Captain Underpants book WITHOUT Captain Underpants, can you?

For years I had wondered if I was ever going to get to tell the tale of George and Harold meeting, becoming friends, and battling against their very first enemy, Kipper Krupp.

Then I thought of Tippy. Tippy Tinkletrousers was very smart. He could build time machines. Perhaps a time machine might allow me to bring everybody back to when George and Harold were in kindergarten? Then I could tell that story!

So I wrote another story to "bookend" my tale about George and Harold and Kipper. The "bookend story" consists of the first 72 pages and the last 28 pages. It's one of the reasons why this book is so long (it's over 300 pages--- nearly three times as long as the first epic novel). Thanks to Tippy Tinkletrousers, I got to write the origin story that I'd been wanting to tell for years.

When people ask me what my favorite Captain Underpants book is, I always tell them it's this one. More specifically, it's the 200 page story-within-a-story that begins on page 73 of this book and ends on page 273. There aren't any superheroes in that story, and the tale is more grounded in reality than many of the other novels in this series, but for me, it has the most heart." -Dav Pilkey

　
Fun Facts:

1. Tippy Tinkletrouser's jailbird uniform has the number "84779" sewn on to the front. Mr. Krupp's uniform has the number "23669". Can you figure out the secret meaning behind this numerical system? For a hint, see #4 below.

2. George and Harold's first comic book, The Adventures of Dog Man was never meant to be anything more than a "one-shot" comic. Dav Pilkey didn't intend for it to become more than just a chapter in book #9. But shortly after the book came out, Dav began getting a lot of Dog Man fan mail. Kids really seemed to like that character (and they liked to draw him, too), so Dav began thinking of more stories about him.
In 2015, Dog Man will get his very own full-length book called Dog Man: World's Greatest Cop. Dav Pilkey is already working on a sequel.

3. Dav Pilkey is not very tech-savvy. He doesn't even OWN a cell phone. So when he illustrated this book (in which cell phones play a part in the story), he gave two of the three bullies "flip phones". Dav was unaware that "flip phone technology" had been outdated for years when he drew these illustrations. He is very sorry and promises to research things better in the future.

Dav Pilkey delivers another fun-filled story in the ninth Captain Underpants novel. In this funny adventure, the boys have no choice but to face Kipper Krupp, the big bully, on their own. Tormented by Kipper in the past, the boys create a clever plan to defeat the bully, and this plan is filled with many unexpected upcoming events to finally seek revenge. 'Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers' will have any child laughing-out-loud as it entertains throughout. A triumph in this hilarious series, enjoyable, and Recommended for young readers!

Longest book of the series

I read this book aloud for my tween sons. We're fans of the series, and we all enjoyed it very much. The pranks were pretty funny and elaborate, and the story could be used as a jumping off point for a conversation about bullying. Do Harold and George go too far in bullying the bullies? What can you do when the principal (or another grown-up) ignores bullying in real life?

This book (#9) is by far the longest of the series at 303 pages. By comparison, "Wrath of the Wicked Wedgie Woman" (#5) is the second longest book we own in the series, at 170 pages. Perhaps that's why we didn't like #9 quite as much as usual - it seemed in any case that the first 10 chapters were a little slow.

I must add: don't judge a book by its title. As a mom, I was very negative to the series before my boys got their first book of the series as a gift. We read it, and I liked it a million times more than I expected.

The Real EPIC Captain Underpants Book

Every Captain Underpants book is called an "epic novel", well, this time Pilkey has certainly presented fans with "the" Epic Captain Underpants novel. It is huge for a start (over 300 pages) and the plot is so convoluted it contains about three stories in one! This has got to be the best book in the entire series and I've already read book 10, but this one makes me want to read #10 again just to follow what happens next. After six years between books 8 & 9 being published, Pilkey put everything he had into this book; it is absolutely hilarious. Taking us into a future that was meant to be, a future that could have been and the one that really happened. We also go way back to when George and Harold were in kindergarten and first met. The majority of the book takes place within this storyline and is fantastic! I just loved it!

Reto Bachmann-Gm�r, first learned about the Web in 1996, and believed it to be the perfect opportunity to combine his passion for technology with his desire to do something socially relevant. However, he got buried under information overload of the Web, and hardly got a chance to breathe until he finally heard about the semantic Web in 2002. He started development on various open source projects that were designed as better means to deal with the ever-growing information, ideally of course in a decentralized fashion without any position, and which were able to control the free flow of information. He worked on Graph Versioning with the Jena team at HP Laboratories, and on Semantic Content Management with Adobe. Since he hasn't fixed the world yet, he's increasingly trying to get others to do the job, partially with his consulting firm wymiwyg.com and partially fathering his 10-year-old son, ultimately spending less time fixing and more time enjoying.

But this is great! Strongly recommended, interesting material on how to take a boring old Content Management System and start make it genuinely useful, maximise web surface. The book starts at scratch, no assumptions on what you know, holds your hand to get your own thing running. I was impressed by the direct nature of it - think what you want to do with your system, here's how to do it. I say holding your hand, but nothing here is patronizing, is a good adult read.

Instant Apache Stanbol is a short 66page book from Pack Publishing. It is intended for developers who embrace the semantic web and want to increase their knowledge about Stanbol and connect their applications with it.

The book contains 10 recipes which cut directly to the matter, no unnecessary filler texts. The recipes serve as a quick reference and cover topics from compiling and running Stanbol, enahncing your content with Stanbol, how to use the RDF data, adding your own entities for Stanbol to recognize so you can specific content recognized to creating your own Stanbol components, enhancers and launchers.

All of the used terms and concepts are explained clearly and concisely. The examples are shown using a node.js client so a little javascript and node.js knowledge comes in handy. They start simple and end up with some advanced stuff like building your own enhancers.

I would recommend this book to all developers who want to take their content management systems to another level. With this book you will get into Stanbol in no time.

An ah-mazing novel.....

The Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, was the BEST clique book EVER! This novel was more about guys than the other three novels in the series since the relationships between the girls of OCD and the boys of Briarwood (finally!) begin to evolve. But Invasion of the Boy Snatchers still has Massie's witty joke/questions, the Clique's glamorous clothes and the usual drama that follows the Clique like a lost puupy.

Alicia's super hot cousin, Nina, comes to Westchester from Spain. Nina is competition for Massie as she has more experience with boys and Kristen (who now looks like a boy thanks to a horrid haircut) and Dylan easily fall into her clutches. Meanwhile, Kristen and Dylan aren't the only people Nina seems to have spellbound. Nina managed to get the attention of Derrington, Cam and Josh and prevent them from talking to Massie, Claire and Alicia. Massie, Claire (who can't stop talking about wanting to kiss Cam) and Alicia finally decide they have to do something and unleash their cattiness at the Valentine's Love Struck Dance.

The end of the novel was part expected and part unexpected. It really made me want to read the next novel because I'm dying to find out what happens next. Will Claire finally get that kiss from Cam? Will something happen between Massie and Derrington? Guess I'll just have to read the next novel :D

The Best Clique Book!!!

I have read all the other Clique books, but this one was by far my favorite. I read this in one day, because once you get into it, you just can't put it down. I'll tell you a bit about it, but if you haven't read the others, i strongly suggest you start from the beginning.

Alicia's beautiful cousin Nina from Spain spends the semester at OCD, and all the boys LOVE her. She dresses in revealing, sexy outfits, and has alot of boy experience. Massie, Alicia, and Claire despise her because she's a show-off, and has kicked Massie out of the number one spot at OCD (Octavian Country Day School). Kristen and Dylan like her because she will give a pair of stylish boots to whichever girl wins a bet. I'm not going to tell you why Nina is really evil, you have to read the book for that.

I reccomend the whole Clique series to people who are too young to read "The It Girl". They have similar concepts, but that book is for older teens. However, there are curses in these books and phrases like "sluto-rita". Kids under ten or eleven should not be reading this. Anyway, it's a good book, but you should buy the next book, or even the whole series, because you will want to know what happens next, I guarantee that!

The Best Yet

This has to be the best book in the series yet and Lisi Harrison finds something to spice up each book in it's own way.

The Valentine's Day Dance is coming up, and we all know what that means: you better have a date for the dance. But when Nina, Alicia's cousin from Spain visits, it isn't pretty. Secrets will be revealed about Nina and her past and the dance will be such fun. Will Claire move away, or stay? Will Nina be a gal pal, or a total pest? You really should read to find out.

Read the 1st three books or you'll be out of the loop. They are a great investment and you will remember the books for a long time.

Fantastic practical introduction with emphasis on calculations

Chapter 1 introduces basic concepts in electricity such as charge, voltage, current, resistance and Ohms law.

Chapter 2 then delves into basic DC circuit analysis of series and parallel circuits using KVL and KCL and the concepts of source transformation and circuit reduction.

Chapter 3 gives you more techniques to solve for difficult circuit analysis problems based on node and mesh analysis. Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits are introduced.

Chapter 4 - so far the book has dealt with passive circuits. The authors now turn to active circuits. Transistors and OP amps are introduced with 4 basic signalling functions namely inverting/noninverting amps, diff amp and inverting summer. These are combined in different ways to give different signal processing properties. Analysis of op amp circuits is presented using nodal analysis techniques.

Chapter 5- now the authors deal with signal waveforms in particular step functions, exponential waveforms and sinusoidal waveforms.

Chapter 6 introduces the capacitor and inductor along with their I-V relationships and parallel and series reductions. These are then applied to active circuits and we obtain two other basic op amp circuits namely the integrator and differentiator.

Chapter 7 deals with 1st and 2nd order circuits so named since they are described by first and second order diff eq. RC and RL circuits are discussed followed by step and sinusoidal responses of 1st order circuits. RLC series and parallel circuits are next followed by step and sinusoidal responses of 2nd order circuits.

Chapter 8 is of a mathematical nature dealing with the use of phasors and sinusoidal steady state response. Phasor analysis is introduced with corresponding KVL and KCL laws and various circuit theorems. The concept of impedence is explained clearly.

Chapter 9 deals with Laplace transforms and their mathematical properties. One learns how to write them and to use the inverse transform to get back to the time domain from the "s" domain.

Simple circuit analysis using Laplace transforms is shown. One writes the diff eq for the circuit, converts it to s domain using laplace transform, you solve it using algebraic techniques and then use the inverse transform.

Chapter 10 gives you more theorems to use in s-domain analysis. The equivalent circuit theorems nodal and mesh analysis theorems are presented. We see that s-domain analysis is more than a mathematical trick rather it gives one deeper insight into the circuit. The natural poles allow one to determine the form, stability and observability of the circuits response.

Chapter 11 introduces the concept of network functions ( zero state response to input response in s domain ) in particular transfer ( different ports ) and driving point impedance ( same port ) functions and their use in circuit analysis. We also see how the use of transfer functions allows one to find a steady state response of circuit directly from the transfer function.

Chapter 12 deals with frequency response. Low pass, high pass, passband, and stopband concepts are introduced. Bode plots are explained.

Chapter 13 introduces fourier series and chapter 14 analog filter design

I did not read chapter 15 or 16

The book is replete with simple exercises progressing to more difficult ones with plenty of worked out examples.

A mature student can cover the material in most of the book in a few weeks . There are really very few basic concepts ( charge, voltage, current, I-V relationships in resistors, inductors, capacitors, natural generalization to impedance, Equivalent circuits with methods of reduction including KCL, KVL, parallel, series, Norton, Thevinen equivalents, nodal and mesh analysis concepts, active components and their properties, types of signal waveforms, steady state responses, phasor analysis, s-domain analysis using Laplace transform, network functions, frequency response principals of filter design and fourier series) numbering 30 or so that are combined in a straightforward way to solving circuit design and analysis problems.

This by no means indicates that circuit analysis and design is easy but rather like most other fields, the concepts are basic but their possible combinations and interactions are almost limitless. Often finding A solution is not enough. One must find a solution that meets several other criteria as well including multi-purpose use, cost efficiency, construction feasibility, etc.

Absolutely the best intro to electrical engineering textbook

This is the textbook for the first course in electrical engineering (DC, AC circuit analysis.. with Resistors, Capacitors and Inductors).
It explains everything so well, and the good think is... u don't have to keep correcting the mistakes in the textbook with ur pen (like most other textbooks). There are no mistakes. Everything is professional... it's a textbook u can cherish and keep on the shelf. (Most Circuit textbooks have many mistakes in them, because it's hard to edit and produce perfect material on this subject... but the authors/editors must have taken time and care for this textbook).

excellent book

I first learned about circuit analysis about 10 years ago though one course at college. This book was great for refreshing my memory and helping to finally see the simplicity in Op-Amps. I recommend this book for non-electrical engineers who have jobs that require some electrical engineering.
