She would follow him anywhere, and she does follow him, all the way to Eretz Israel, to a small kibbutz on the Sea of Galilee, hundreds of miles from the nearest city.

A wounded soldier with no home to go back to...After losing his left arm in the Siege of Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War, and being deported from the little kibbutz he retired to afterwards, Joseph Trumpeldor volunteers to lead a brigade of Jewish soldiers on the Turkish Front of World War I.

Will the Allies force the Turks out of the Land of Israel before the Jews there suffer the fate of the Armenians? Will Joseph ever make his way back? Will Lisa be alive when he gets there?

MESMERIZING PAGE-TURNER BRINGS HISTORY TO LIFE.

This is one of those rare, truly inspiring books that is so good, you wish you had a ton of money and could mail a copy to everyone. The author brings history to life. It makes one proud to be a human being when one reads of the vision, raw courage and determination of the men and women who fought for the honor of the Jewish people and the rebirth of the Jewish nation. Through the experiences of Joseph Trumpeldor and Vladimir Jabotinsky, we see the suffering, ideological and physical struggle and ultimate success of those striving to build a Jewish homeland and a strong, self-reliant people. It's the kind of book you can't put down, and you will be thinking about Trumpeldor and his impact long after you finish the book.

Joseph's Dream dramatizes the life story of Captain Joseph Trumpeldor, a founding father of the State of Israel. A real page-turner with nice clean prose and engaging characters. I highly recommend this book!

HTML/Javascript based data viz via the D3 library

The book is primarily a well-written introduction to the Data Driven Documents (D3). Other approaches are mentioned but the bulk of the book is about learning to use D3. The approach strikes a balance between going step-by-step for HTML/Javascript beginners and explaining details for more advanced scripters. The code is all available on github and I have not encountered any errors so far.

NOTE: Amazon is still providing a mangled version of this book. Example text: "the paragraphs we want to seldon't exist y....Bear with me, as the answer might require bending your mind a bi"

This is not an isolated example, it happens on nearly single page. O'Reilly responded within an hour with a corrected PDF of the book. I am still waiting to hear back from Amazon but I re-downloaded the version they are providing and it is still mangled. Anyone considering the book should consider going directly to O'Reilly for their purchase.

Quick read, extraordinarily easy to follow for developers, accessible to everyone

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to designers, developers, and anyone who will actually build interactive data visualizations.

The tone of the writing is fun and lighthearted. The pacing, interspersed with examples (which run precisely as promised, out of the box) is just great. Bite sized chunks are presented and discussed, all with an appropriate amount of repetition (to reinforce concepts, but avoiding wasting space).

My favorite aspect of the examples was that, while code was reused, later projects didn't depend on earlier ones. He wasn't building up to something, he's just demonstrating a bit here, a bit there, and moving on. By ditching earlier customizations and reverting to basics it gracefully clarified what was necessary and what depended on what.

For me this was a quick read. Several hours in a few different sessions, which pauses to test the code, edit it, and then move on. I'm a software develop and I understand JavaScript and JQuery well, so the syntax and practicalities of development were natural to me, but believe me: this is written for non-developers. He assumes nothing, and never made me regret re-reading something I already knew.

It's a rare technical book that is so well written and accessible, being accessible to initiates and pleasant to the experiences. On top of that, it's quite rare to see color illustrations in an O'Reilly book.

Good elementary tutorial throws a tantalizing net

This is a thoughtful, concise, easy-to-follow tutorial. I'm a relatively advanced developer and had already hacked my way into d3 and gotten into a little trouble before picking up this book. My problem was that there are a few "magic" bits to d3--particularly on the geojson side (map-making)--and I just wasn't quite getting it. I snagged this book, blew through it in a couple hours, and am now in a much better place. This thin volume, plus the API reference at d3js.org plus Michael Bostock's mind-altering array of example scripts at bl.ocks.org/mbostock are probably everything you need to integrate d3 into your projects.

Great Introduction to Using Keras

That having been said, this book is a great introduction to coding up deep learning algorithms in Keras. It shows you how to install Theano or TensorFlow as your backend. The book covers a basic MNIST intro, then goes into Conv-nets, word embeddings, GANs, RNNs, and more. The end of the book even touches upon some reinforcement learning techniques.

There are sufficient citations and followups for each chapter and the authors also show the detailed code and expected outputs.

The reader should already have some experience with python and a basic understanding of neural networks.

Dr Lawrence Weiss is a board-certified anatomic pathologist and the current chairman of pathology at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California. He has published over 200 papers on varied topics in surgical pathology and hematopathology. He is also the editor of three books on hematologic malignancies and surgical pathology. In 2000, he was honored by the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology as its Young Investigator of the Year.

Great overall text for lymph node pathology

As a board certified hematopathologist, I would highly recommend adding this textbook to any practicing pathologists bookshelf. Not only are the images of decent size and quality, but each section is of reasonable length to make the book a quick read. Of particular interest in some of the rare entities, is a general "how I approach this" style of writing which gives the practitioner a sense of how to approach a case they may not have much experience with.

Very good reference for residents who do not see much lymph node pathology in their training - a great complement to the WHO heme book.

Good book, very easy to read. You can almost hear Dr. Weiss's voice as you read. Obviously not 100% comprehensive, but covers pretty much everything one would 99.9% of the time encounter in lymph nodes and heme. Wonderful!

Highly recommended

This is a fantastic book. The photos are large and very clear and the text is well written. Dr. Weiss goes through the various neoplastic and non-neoplastic lymph node disorders and gives a clear and thorough differential diagnosis, along with very current use of immunohistochemical, cytogenetic, and molecular studies. Additionally there are excellent charts for those of us who are more visually inclined. I would highly recommend this book to any pathologist in training or in practice.

Cooking The Sephardic Way

Love this recipe book. My mother-in-law passed away and I was lucky enough to get it. She used the recipes for years and we loved everyone of the great foods she made from it. Now I am making all these great family tradition recipes and getting a very happy response because I am the only one who makes these. Sad to say it is falling apart from being used so much. I plan on getting one in better condition, but I will always hang onto this one.

My grandma in a book

So happy I found a copy! Wish they would continue to publish it. It has all the recipes for the foods I remember my grandmother cooking. I've used my copy since it was published in 1971. It is battered and stained and loved. Now I have found and bought 2 copies to give to my 2 college aged daughters so they can mark up and star the ones they love the best as they leave home. Nostalgia could not be sweeter!

Amazing and Little Known Organisms Illustrated

Radiolarians are a total blank to the majority of people, yet these remarkable builders of glass houses (microscopic to be sure) abound in the world's oceans. Ernst Haeckel, the Nineteenth Century German biologist and supporter of Darwin, wrote the most comprehensive monograph on the group in his Radiolarian Atlas of 1862, which is still in use today. The illustrations have never been surpassed and so it is certainly a boon for microscopists that the plates have now been republished in all their glory as "Art Forms from the Ocean: The Radiolarian Atlas of 1862". In many ways I wish that the text would have included descriptions of the radiolarians illustrated and their distributions, but that probably would have been of little interest to the general public. Instead there is a discussion of Haeckel's life and work, especially of his involvement with radiolarians and other microscopic marine life.

Still, for the price this is a real bargain, and I thus recommend this book just for the plates to any amateur or professional biologist who is interested in the micro planktonic organisms of the ocean.
